Big thank you to Steve Bisson at Straight to the Point Therapy for inviting Krista to share her story!
A Job That’s Not for the Faint of Heart

Krista and her husband, Matt, started a crime and trauma scene cleaning business back in 2019. Sounds intense, right? It is. They’ve done everything from suicide cleanups to hoarding remediation to even meth lab decontamination. As Krista says, “If not us, then who?” Their work isn’t just about cleaning; it’s about creating safe spaces and helping families move forward.
Also, fun fact—Krista loves the organizing part of hoarding cleanups. Seriously, she’s that person who will open every box and sort it all out.
What’s Bright Sky House All About?
Bright Sky House is Krista’s latest adventure. It’s a platform designed to share hidden stories, challenge stigmas, and build connections. Whether it’s mental health struggles, grief, or navigating tough situations, Bright Sky House is all about creating a space where people feel seen and heard.

Trauma is Personal (and That’s Okay)
Here’s a truth bomb from Krista: trauma is personal. What’s a big deal for one person might not faze someone else, and that’s okay. For example, Krista’s nine-year-old daughter still talks about the time she slammed her finger in a glass shower door. To her, that’s trauma. For Krista, it’s the stories behind the scenes she’s cleaned that stick with her.
Let’s Talk About Men’s Mental Health
One of Krista’s big passions is breaking down the stigmas around men’s mental health. Did you know 80% of suicides in the U.S. are men? That’s a staggering number, and Krista believes we need to do better at creating spaces where men feel comfortable asking for help. It’s not easy, but it’s so important.
Her upcoming podcast, She Diaries, dives into the lives of women who have lost their husbands to suicide. The goal? Build community, share stories, and start important conversations about vulnerability and support.
Boundaries Are Everything
Krista’s biggest takeaway from therapy? Boundaries. She didn’t even know what they were a few years ago, but now they’re her superpower. And her nine-year-old is already using them, too!
Though Krista admits her daughter sometimes pulls the “That’s a boundary” card a little too often, trying to get around rules and responsibilities.
Take the First Step
Krista’s work isn’t just about cleaning up physical messes—it’s about helping people untangle the emotional ones, too. Bright Sky House is all about connection, and her podcasts will bring hidden stories to light in a way that’s honest, heartfelt, and even a little fun.
