No. Mental Health First Aid is designed for everyday people—not just mental health professionals. No previous training or experience is required.

How does the virtual training work?

The course includes approximately 2 hours of self-paced online pre-work, followed by 5–6 hours of live, instructor-led virtual training. You’ll participate from your computer alongside other learners in an interactive class.

What will I learn?

You’ll learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, start a supportive conversation, listen without judgment, use the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan, connect someone with appropriate support, and respond when someone may be experiencing a crisis.

Can my workplace or organization schedule a private training?

Yes. If you’re looking to train a team, workplace, nonprofit, community organization, or other group, private training may be a better fit.

How long is my Mental Health First Aid certification valid?

After successfully completing the required coursework and live training, your Mental Health First Aid certification is valid for three years.

What is included with my registration?

Your registration includes access to the required pre-work, live instructor-led training, course materials, and Mental Health First Aid certification upon successful completion of the course requirements.

What happens if my class doesn’t meet minimum enrollment?

A minimum of five participants is required for a class to run. If your selected class does not meet minimum enrollment, you’ll have the option to transfer your registration to another available date or receive a full refund.

What do I need to participate in virtual training?

You’ll need a computer or laptop with a reliable internet connection, camera, microphone, and access to the virtual training platform. Because the course is interactive, plan to participate from a quiet location where you can be present for the full live session.
